Pinterest Holiday Marketing Guide For 2025
Pinterest is undoubtedly the platform to turn to when it comes to planning! Users are always thinking steps ahead, whether it’s for their next trip, shopping spree, or dinner plans. However, this is especially true for holidays!
Even though we’re at the beginning of fall, now is a great time to jump-start your holiday marketing strategy on Pinterest. As you know, Pins take about two months to get indexed on the platform, leaving you enough time to get your content ready, whether it’s gift guides, decor ideas, or last-minute party setups.
As a creator, you definitely want to take advantage of the holiday season on Pinterest. For that reason, I’m sharing a few tips that will help you get ahead of your competition.
Start Now
I know what you may be thinking – it’s not even Halloween yet, why are we talking about the winter holidays?
What may surprise you is that Pinterest users are actually looking up holiday ideas way earlier than you’d expect. In fact, they may be doing this right now!
With that in mind, the earlier you show up – the better! If you have your content up and ready, there’s a higher chance for you to pop up on search results way ahead of your competition.
So, start planning your holiday content. In addition to making new posts, be sure to look back on your previous work and update it to be relevant for 2025. When you’re done, use a scheduling tool like Tailwind to line up your entire season in one sitting.
Use Pinterest’s Search Power
You’ve heard me say countless times how Pinterest is one of the most powerful search engines out there and keywords are a HUGE deal when optimizing your content.
Still, to reach your target audience, you need to get deep with your specifics.
For instance, let’s say that you have a holiday gift guide planned. If you look up ‘Christmas gifts’ on Pinterest, you’ll see thousands of Pins for all kinds of niches. While this may be a strong keyword, it’s super generic, meaning you may have a hard time standing out from your competition.
But, if you target your content for a specific group of people (ex., ‘Christmas gifts for plant lovers’), there’s a high probability that the right audience will find you. Add a few variations, throw in some generic keywords for that extra push, and you’re all set!
And remember – Pinterest is, above all, a visual tool. In other words, your keywords might get your content out there, but it’s the visual that will encourage them to engage. So, when you’re creating your Pins, make sure they’re on par with your branding, but still festive enough to draw attention.
Follow The Trends
While on the topic of content creation, I absolutely have to mention trends.
Like every year, some trends blow up and are everywhere – including Pinterest. Although you may not be a fan of some of them, you can absolutely use them to your advantage.
Hop on Pinterest Trends and see what people are searching for in real time. When you find something that’s relevant for your niche and has excellent search results, center some holiday Pins around it.
Of course, this doesn’t mean just using the trends for the sake of it. The only way it works is if you add your own personal twist to it!
Take Note Of What Works
Once everything’s created, optimized, and posted, the last task of your Pinterest holiday marketing strategy is to keep track of how your Pins are performing.
Remember how I said it’s important to start early? Well, your metrics will show you what your audience is engaging with the most. And, since you have more than enough time, you can create similar additional content to keep the momentum going!
It’s Never Too Early For Holiday Planning
While there’s still time for the holiday cheer to knock on our doors, your Pinterest holiday marketing strategy should start now! With these tips, this might be the merriest season of all!
